As a first time mom I will be the first to admit I had NO idea what I actually needed to prepare for the arrival of our daughter. I didn’t have much experience with children growing up and most of my friends who do have kids had them many years ago. So, with a saturated baby market how was I supposed to know what I really needed and what I didn’t? Walking into a Buybuybaby or Babiesrus (R.I.P) was extremely overwhelming, gave me anxiety and I ended up always leaving immediately. So that left me with a quite an issue, what do I actually need for a newborn baby? I will tell you EXACTLY what I needed; Diapers, wipes, onesies, coffee (lot’s of coffee) and a Dockatot. Literally, that is it, the rest will work itself out.
Now that it’s no secret that I think a DockATot is a must baby have item, let me tell you what is a secret… the secret is what my initial attitude and reaction to the product was. When a close friend, also a new mother, ranted and raved insisting that I needed this so-called DockATot, My first thought was, [Insert snarky voice] “what is this DockATot” she is referring to and, “why is it so expensive?”. Well now I know the answers to my judgmental questions, but at the time I had no clue. What I did know was that I trusted and respected this friends advice, and knew that if she was insisting that I needed it then I needed it. Fast forward 7 months and she was 100% right, and that is an understatement.
Now, I’m sure you are asking yourself the same questions I originally asked and let me break it down for you.
Question: What exactly is a DockATot?
Answer: It is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and a playtime lounger.
Question: Why is it so expensive?
Answer: It is handmade in Europe, tested for breathability, all natural 100% cotton and ideal micro-climate for babies and toddlers. Oh and you can’t put a price on a comfortable happy and sleeping baby, TRUST ME. It is an investment piece you are going to wish it was made in your size.
For real though, from the first night we brought Charlie home from the hospital she spent every single night sleeping in her DockATot and I wouldn’t know what to do if we hadn’t invested in one. The DockATot creates a comforting surrounding which a baby is used to after having been in the womb for 40 weeks, and in my case 41+1 weeks. The Dock is lightweight and perfect for moving room to room or taking with you while you travel. Also, what I’m about to say is just from my personal experience but what really sealed the deal, making the DockATot my number one must have item was how peaceful and safe Charlie was when she slept. Did I mention the zippers are non-toxic? If you’ve been following my journey in motherhood you will know that I’m very passionate about only using the best of the best for my daughter and that means no toxins! When a company cares about the small details they have my heart.
Charlie is 7 months old and still naps and lounges in her Deluxe (size for 0-8 months) and you better believe we have a Grand (size for babies 9-36 months) in the closet waiting to be used. I couldn’t be a bigger advocate for this product and if you have any questions please feel free and e-mail me and I’d be more than happy to talk more about our experience and love for this product.
So I will end this with a quick letter;
Dear DockATot,
Thank you for making my life as a new mother easier and for providing a safe-comfortable place for my Charlie to sleep. Also, high five for making this sleeper simple to wash and look rad. You are the real MVP.
Sincerely your number one fan,
Bonnie Stone
